We've got a new look to go along with a new website.
Here is what the top of my newscast looked like Tuesday night, when we debuted the new graphics and music. :)
Nerdy stuff, but I like the new brighter look with palm trees. Very Miami. :) It's the same "look" that the west coast stations have.

Poor, poor Jessica Simpson.
We saw her singing live at the Chili Cookoff, and since then the photo of her in those horrendous jeans has been everywhere. Even President Obama made a comment about how he was cropped out of a pic on the cover of US Weekly to make room for "Jessica and her weight problem"... eek! (but kinda hilarious)
But check out the article in a Miami Herald blog today... Mom vs Dad jeans.
Hilarious.
And one of our anchors recently returned from Europe, and wrote the funniest blog about her trip. Enjoy! :)

Who needs bedazzling when you can just get your Betty ready?! LOL.
Last Friday wil.i.am debuted this song on Oprah... I downloaded it on iTunes this weekend... jammed to it on the way to work today, and haven't been able to get it out of my head ever since. So I thought I'd share the wealth. Enjoy. :)

One of our veteran reporters asked me today if I was the new 7pm producer… and when I said I was the producer for this week.. but "we'll see", he responded with… "well I think you've earned your spurs."
so nice.

When did it become October 1st? September came and went in a blink, and now I've pretty much got the next few weekends planned. Epcot this weekend with the girlies for some time together, food & wine festival, and cheering on our friends-- the 10k runners. :) Following weekend I'm free, 3rd wknd in Oct is my mom's birthday, then last weekend is my D.C. extravaganza.
I bought my plane ticket today and I'm very excited. Today I found out that I'm being moved to a temporary Mon/Tues night shift, so I can fill in on our 10pm newscast that airs on the CW (until they hire someone else). They told me it'll be through at least beginning of November... so I took advantage of that and booked my ticket for Thursday night (I already had Friday off) to early Monday morning (since I don't have to be at work until 2:30p). That means I'll have 3 full days in D.C. to play.
The trip has turned into another friend reunion for me. I'll be seeing three of my friends who moved away from Miami this year (one will be flying up from Atlanta to round out the group). The first two nights we'll be staying here... we originally were going to stay with my friend R.A. who I met as an intern, but her apt will be filled with family the first two nights. So she got us the HABU with her dad's Marriott mgmt discount, and we're staying at the oh-so-pimp 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue! :)
I talked to the HS ex today and I mentioned how excited I was for my trip, and he said, "I'll be there that wknd also, we should meet up." I stayed quiet for a sec and then said, "cool." If he remembers, and calls, then we'll see. If not, oh well. He apparently drives up to D.C. almost every weekend because he has Friday afternoons off, and doesn't really like it in Pitt anymore? who knows?
As for my temporary schedule change... I'm totally okay with it. It's the show I turned down... but I'm happy with the mixture of two days to produce and the rest of the week to do my regular job. We'll see how it goes. Just sucks that I'll miss my Tuesday night shake-your-ass-til-you-drop aerobics class... but at least I know I won't be running in to Kansas (we're usually both at the gym Tues nights)
I just want the tropical storm that was outside my apartment this morning to stay away (maybe I'm exaggerating a bit with the T.S. title... but there were waves in my canal, and the sliding glass door was moving!) ... and now I'm settling in for some How I Met Your Mother and other Monday night TV...

Our favorite Dick In A Box won a Creative Arts Emmy this weekend! yay! Check out the article on BBC News about it... I'm amused at how they describe the skit.
Just sitting here watching the VMA's... I only tuned in to watch Britney's "comeback" performance... and watching her on stage makes me feel old. She looks trashy and washed up. Oh where did the days of Britney with a python on stage go?

I watched this on Friday and absolutely cringed...
All your plans are coming together nicely today, and it looks as though you're
going to have a lot of fun! The hard work is over, so you can feel free to kick
back and let yourself get distracted by the silly, the inane and the downright
goofy today. You can't schedule laughter, but you can look at the funny side of
things -- there almost always is one! Your sense of humor is going to get quite
a wonderful workout today. From knock-knock jokes to puns, you'll find plenty
to giggle about.
***I enjoy when horoscopes are fun... and for the record, I *did* spend a lot of time laughing today... mainly at highly inappropriate jokes with co-workers. lol.
